KUCHING - A teacher arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting two 10-year-old boys at a school in Sungai Menyan, Serian has been remanded for seven days.

Magistrate Ivon Endrew made the remand order when the 37-year-old suspect was produced at the Serian magistrate's court near here at 2pm on Tuesday.

The suspect was detained at 3pm on Monday after he was summoned to the Serian district police headquarters following reports lodged by the families of both victims.

According to Sarawak CID chief SAC Datuk Dev Kumar, the first incident occurred in May when the suspect brought one of the victims to the school's student affairs office, locked the door and molested him.

"In August, the suspect brought the second victim to a storeroom in the same school, but the victim managed to run away to a classroom," he said in a statement.

Dev said the families claimed to have brought the matter up with the school but made the police report after school authorities failed to take any action.
