Malaysian baby whose medical condition went viral dies in hospital

IPOH: Nur Umairah Jannah Abdul Muhaimin, the eight-month-old baby who was born with a medical condition called hydrocephalus, has died.

According to the family's neighbour Mastura Meor Razali, Nur Umairah passed away at Hospital Cancelor Tuanku Muhriz in Bandar Tun Razak on Wednesday (July 10).

"I have been informed by the family that Nur Umairah passed away around 3pm due to unforeseen circumstances.

"Her funeral will be held at Tanah Perkuburan Kg Tersusun Kledang Utama," she told The Star.

Nur Umairah was born with hydrocephalus, a condition where cerebrospinal fluid builds up within the ventricles of her brain, increasing the size of her head.

Her story went viral and she had received help from kind Malaysians living in the country and abroad.

She also received a visit from the Prime Minister's wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali on Tuesday (July 9) at the hospital.
