Malaysian man crushed by own lorry after it slides down slope

PETALING JAYA - A 32-year-old man was crushed in an incident involving his lorry, allegedly resulting from his own carelessness.

It is understood that Kum Chok Wen had returned home from work in the wee hours of the morning and parked his lorry on a steep road, not far from his house in Jinjang here.

He apparently forgot to apply the handbrake when he got out of the lorry, which caused the vehicle to slide downhill.

"We believe he attempted to get onto the lorry to stop it from moving. However, the lorry crashed into a gate while he was struggling to get inside.

"Caught between the vehicle's door and the driver's seat, he was crushed," said KL traffic chief ACP Mohd Nadzri Hussain.

He said Kum, a father of four, died on the spot in the 1.10am incident in Jalan Jinjang Murni 7, yesterday.

A neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said Kum kept a lot to himself.

"We don't know much about him but we know he was no longer staying with his wife and children," said the neighbour.
