MELAKA - The Melaka Religious Department (JAIM) is looking for one "Ustaz Din" for solemnising a marriage at Pulau Besar during the movement control order (MCO) period.

State Religious Department (JAIM) deputy enforcement director Akmal Nadzim Abdullah said the marriage took place on Thursday (April 9).

"We received information on the marriage from eyewitnesses," he said on Tuesday (April 14).

Akmal said the ustaz and couple had violated the Islamic Family Law (State of Melaka) 2002.

He said solemnisation of marriages should adhere to the state by-law and must be registered with proper documentation.

Akmal said they don't have a lot of information about the ustaz, but are confident in finding him.

The event was attended by some 20 people, who are believed to be Pulau Besar residents.
