Malaysian woman scalded in beauty treatment at home

THE face of a 34-year-old woman was scalded by hot water from a steamer during a facial treatment at home, Berita Harian reported.

Siti Zalina, who works at an insurance company, is now receiving treatment in Klang Hospital for serious injuries to her face, eyes and neck.

Her friend, the beautician who provided the facial treatment, caused the accident.

Siti immediately contacted her husband and was rushed to the hospital.

Doctor said the burns on her face will not fully heal as the injury was serious.

She said she wanted to publicise her case so that others can avoid such an experience.

The daily reported that there are about 20,000 "beauty experts" or aestheticians giving beauty treatments across the nation.

Only 200 from the 20,000 "experts" have Letter of Credentialing and Privileging from the Health Ministry.
