PETALING JAYA, Malaysia - Claims that former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pix) accepted an invitation from Bersih 4 organisers to join the rally are "false and malicious".

"Muhyiddin never agreed to join the rally. These lies were spread on social media by irresponsible parties," said Datuk Mohd Nardin Awang, Muhyiddin's former political secretary, in a statement sent on the Umno deputy president's behalf.

"At no point did Muhyiddin, though his political secretary or otherwise, communicate with Bersih organisers as alleged. Furthermore, he is out of the country on the dates the rally is taking place," he said.
