IPOH - A man was burnt to death when the car he was in crashed into an MPV at KM321.6 of the North South Expressway northbound lane early Thursday.

Both vehicles burst into flames following the 3.30am collision near Tapah.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the victim, who was driving alone, is believed to have crashed into the road divider.

"The impact threw the victim out of the car. An MPV travelling in the same direction was unable to stop and ran over the victim, pinning him beneath the vehicle," he said.

The driver and two passengers in the MPV managed to escape from their burning vehicle unharmed, but were sent to the Kampar Hospital for outpatient treatment.

The spokesperson added that they have handed over the victim's charred remains to the police.

The rescue operation ended at 5.31am.
