Man high on Malaysia's wanted list shot dead by police

IPOH - A man, high on police's wanted list, was shot dead during an exchange of fire with police yesterday.

The 31-year-old suspect died on the spot after he was shot by policemen who were on their Ops Cantas Khas round about 5pm at Lrg Berlian 2, Taman Koperasi, Teluk Intan.

At the time of the incident, the police team was patrolling in Kampung Banjar, Teluk Intan when they spotted the suspect behaving suspiciously in a Perodua Myvi.

Police tried to stop the car but the suspect sped off to a nearby housing estate.

Police then gave chase until Lrg Berlian 2, Taman Koperasi, Teluk Intan, before the car skided.

When policemen approached the car, the suspect came out and fired several shots at them.

Policemen returned fire while killed the suspect on the spot.

Police found a silver-colour Norinco pistol and a packet of ganja on the suspect.

Perak police chief Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani is expected to give a press conference on the matter later today.
