JOHOR BARU - Having grown tired of their constant arguments in a relationship fraught with problems, the boyfriend killed his partner during a heated quarrel.
He later dumped her body inside a wooden box before throwing it by the roadside.
Police believed they have solved the case with the arrest of two men including the 35-year-old boyfriend.
The other, a 32-year-old man, works as a clerk.
Police learnt that the couple were constantly quarrelling in the eight years of their relationship.
The body of the victim, identified only as Chong, 33, was discovered inside the box after the boyfriend led police to an area in Taman Setia Indah on Monday.
Investigations started after Chong's family reported her missing on June 7, said Johor deputy police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Kamarudin Md Din.
Chong was last seen going out from her home in Taman Sri Putri, Skudai, on May 28.
"We arrested the suspects on Monday.
"The boyfriend confessed to the murder," he said, adding the man worked as a denture maker.
It is learnt that during the argument, the boyfriend hit and assaulted the victim's head, causing her to collapse as she was walking to the bathroom.
The suspect was also believed to have covered her body with plastic canvas before putting it inside a box and leaving it in his shop.
When the body started to decompose, the suspect slathered the body with white plaster cement to try and contain the odour.
The suspect then asked his 32-year-old colleague, who works as a clerk, to help him dispose of the body.
Urine screening tests revealed that both suspects were positive for methamphetamine, said Comm Mohd Kamarudin.
The two men are under remand and both have a criminal record.
