MAS staff get caregiver training

PUTRAJAYA - A psychological team from the Health Ministry has trained another 300 Malaysia Airlines (MAS) liaison officers as caregivers to increase emotional and motivational support for families of MH370 flight passengers and crew.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said the MAS staff were trained in a programme organised by the national air carrier on Thursday.

"The programme was an initiative by MAS and the ministry is glad to help develop psychological and emotional expertise of the liaison officers," he said yesterday.

Dr Subramaniam said the ministry would continue to provide psychological support to the next of kin who were placed at three hotels.

"The ministry has also received assistance from the National Counsellors Association, Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, MCA Crisis Relief Squad and other parties to give support to the affected families.

"We have been providing support to the families since the first day they checked into the hotels and will continue until their stay ends," he said.
