PETALING JAYA: A police report has been lodged against a Facebook user for allegedly spewing insensitive and racist remarks on the downing of flight MH17, that killed 298 people onboard.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (pic) tweeted that it was only appropriate if the Facebook user that goes by the name Sim Kwang Yung Sim be investigated under the Sedition Act.

"A police report has been lodged against Sim Kwang Yung Sim. If this individual exists, she deserves to be investigated under the Sedition Act," he tweeted Saturday.

However, Khairy, who is also an Umno Youth chief, did not provide details of the police report.

On Friday, the cyberspace was abuzz as screenshots of Facebook comments allegedly written by Sim surfaced where she blamed the pilot, Capt Wan Amran Wan Hussin for the crash.

She allegedly wrote that the pilot could have steered clear from the "no-fly zone" if he did not observe the holy month of Ramadan by fasting.

She then allegedly posted more offensive remarks and insults in the same Facebook thread.

Her comments then went viral, with many netizens calling for her arrest.

It is then believed that Sim, who is from Tawau, Sabah, had lodged a police report where she claimed that it was not her who posted such comments as her Facebook account was hacked.

Khairy, when asked by one of his Twitter followers about this said that the investigation should still go on.

"Yes, let police investigate. Ascertain the truth in her case," he tweeted.
