Missing MH370: P-3 Orion leads SAR

SYDNEY - A Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) P-3 Orion aircraft is en route to the search area where two large objects were spotted yesterday, says Australian Maritime Safety Security (AMSA).

In a statement, AMSA said the aircraft departed at 6.15am and is expected to be joined by a civil Gulfstream jet and two RAAF P-3 Orion aircraft.

A United States Navy P8 Poseidon is also joining the search.

One merchant vessel is currently in the search area and another is expected to arrive tonight.

Surveillance aircraft on Thursday searched for a pair of floating objects captured by satellite imagery. But efforts were put on hold due to bad weather and poor visibility.

Yesterday, two objects possibly related to the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 had been sighted some 2,500km southwest of Perth, Australia.
