PETALING JAYA - Another batch of Malaysian students in Cairo will return home today via AirAsia X's rescue mission flight.

It will be the airline's third and final rescue flight from the Egyptian capital under Ops Piramid II,

The plane is scheduled to arrive at KL International Airport at 5.30am, AirAsia X said in a statement.

Last week, the Government decided to evacuate about 3,000 Malaysian students in crisis-hit Egypt using commercial flights, with the first batch of students arriving on Aug 23.

Egypt has been embroiled in turmoil after the country's military-backed government pressed on with its nationwide crackdown on protesters.

In 2011, Malaysia evacuated more than 8,000 students from Egypt under Ops Piramid on the heels of the Arab Spring.
