SEPANG - Two key strategies will be implemented to further strengthen the tourism industry, which is set to earn RM76bil (S$29 billion) for the country during Visit Malaysia Year 2014, said Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz.
Nazri said the Travel and Tourism Regula-tory Framework and the Business Environ-ment and Infrastructure Framework would have an immediate impact on the industry while ensuring its continued growth beyond VMY 2014.
"We count ourselves blessed as we are endowed with an abundance of natural resources and a unique blend of cultural diversity which have contributed significantly to our success in this industry.
"However, resources alone cannot guarantee our success and that is why I want Malaysia to have the strongest possible tourism strategy," he said when launching www.discovermalaysia.com.my, a website of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents here yesterday.
He added that the first strategy would focus on policies, rules, regulations and frameworks for environmental sustainability, safety and security, health and hygiene while the second strategy would cover development of related industry components with regard to ICT, ground transport and airport infrastructure.
