M'sia video of beating goes viral

SINGAPORE - Another video of a woman being beaten in Malaysia has gone viral on Facebook.

This comes just after the clip reported this week in which a man was seen whacking his ex-girlfriend with a hammer in Seremban.

The latest incident happened at a private hospital in George Town in Penang, reported the Star.

The 20-second video, which was uploaded on Tuesday, shows a man whacking his wife in a lift in front of their two young children.

The beating is so vicious that the young daughter begs her father to stop hurting her mother.

As the woman steps out of the lift, her husband kicks her on her back and she falls on her knees.

He kicks her a few more times before leaving with the children.

The woman, a factory worker, 36, said they had gone to the hospital to visit their youngest son who had a high fever.

"My husband told me to bring our two other children along. He lost his temper when our second daughter refused to follow him," said the woman.

"He then took his anger out on me.

"While he was assaulting me, he told me that he would see me in the Syariah (Muslim religious) court."

The woman, who filed for a divorce last month, said she was considering legal action against her husband.

The couple have been married for 12 years.

This is the first time he has assaulted her, reported the Star.

Penang CID chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Kesah said the woman received outpatient treatment at the same hospital for head, wrist and body injuries.

He said the couple had domestic problems and the assault will be investigated as one of voluntarily causing hurt.

Meanwhile, Siow Kong Poh, 33, allegedly the man seen hitting his former girlfriend with a hammer, pleaded not guilty when he was charged in the magistrate's court, reported the Star.
