Mum and her boyfriend arrested after daughter dies from alleged abuse

IPOH - A two-year-old Indonesian girl from Kuala Bikam in Bidor has died, allegedly due to abuse.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Hasnan Hassan said the girl died at about 10.30am on Wednesday while she was being taken to the Teluk Intan Hospital.

"The post-mortem showed that she died from brain haemorrhage caused by a blunt object.

"Police arrested the girl's mother and her boyfriend on Thursday," Comm Hasnan said in a statement Friday.

He said the suspects would be remanded for a week.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 for murder, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
