Night trader charged with raping his daughter

KLANG - A night market trader has claimed trial to 10 counts of raping his underage daughter and forcing her to perform oral sex on him.

The 48-year-old man claimed trial to three counts of rape and three counts of unnatural sex when he appeared before Sessions Court judge Tasnim Abu Bakar.

At another Sessions Court later, the trader pleaded not guilty before judge Ahmad Fairuz Mohd Puzi to one count of rape and three counts of unnatural sex involving the same victim at the same place.

The incidents were said to have taken place between August last year and Sept 25 this year.

The courts denied him bail despite him pleading that he needed to be out to work so that he could hire a lawyer.

The prosecutions in both courts urged the judges not to offer bail as there was a possibility of the accused harassing his wife and other family members if he was let out on bail.

The victim is now 12 and has been placed under the care of the Welfare Department.

The man, who was not represented, had asked the judge to grant him bail so he could earn money to afford a lawyer.

Judge Ahmad Fairuz allowed the man's case to be transferred to Judge Tasnim's court for joint trial. Judge Tasnim has fixed Nov 18 for mention.
