PETALING JAYA, Malaysia - National Service trainees will be mobilised to help people carry water into households affected by water rationing, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
The National Service Training Department will be mobilising members of the National Service Volunteer Brigade to assist with the distribution of water.
"In the next two weeks, the NS trainees will be mobilised to help the people affected by water shortage as part of their community service module," said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein in a statement.
He assured that there would be collaboration across ministries and agencies to assist residents facing the water crisis in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
"The Malaysian Armed Forces is ready to arrange nine water trucks with the capacity of 10,000 litres for the people in need while the Association of Malaysian Highway Concession Companies will move six water trucks with the capacity to hold 5,000 to 15,000 litres to critical areas," he added.
Hishammuddin said the local authorities would also provide assistance should the help provided by the armed forces and other agencies is still insufficient.
