Orang asli women lured into prostitution in Cameron Highlands

A non-governmental body has claimed that orang asli women are being used as prostitutes by illegal migrants in Cameron Highlands, reported Utusan Malaysia.

Regional Environmental Awareness Cameron Highlands (Reach) president R. Ramakrishnan said some of the women had even become pregnant.

"We are seeing fewer illegals in the cities since the government operations (to flush them out). But they have moved to orang asli villages," he said.

Illegal workers, he alleged, were giving money to orang asli girls in Pos Terisu and treating them as prostitutes.

He said complaints had been lodged but no action had been taken.

Ramakrishnan said this after a tour of illegally cleared sites around Kuala Terla and Brinchang by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on Saturday.
