JOHOR BAHRU: Datuk Osman Sapian's status as the Mentri Besar is still in limbo as Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has yet to officially accept his resignation.
He said that Sultan Ibrahim took the letter and asked him to come back to the palace on Saturday (April 13) evening to finalise the matter.
Speaking about his audience with the Ruler, Osman said he was received warmly, adding that Sultan Ibrahim asked many questions regarding the political situation of the state.
"In fact, His Majesty did not read my resignation letter and will keep it as a souvenir," he said at a press conference at Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia headquarters in Kempas.
He said the Johor Ruler also set certain conditions - including a reshuffle of the state executive councillors - as part of an agreement to appoint a new Mentri Besar.
When asked if the matter would be prolonged, Osman said that it all depends on the outcome of his meeting with Sultan Ibrahim this evening.
Osman had earlier tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on April 8.
However, he was only able to meet Sultan Ibrahim today as the Ruler was abroad and only arrived in Johor late Friday.
