PETALING JAYA - A Penang-born fashion designer, whose creations have graced the likes of the Duchess of Cambridge and J-Lo, has become the "it" name among fashionistas in Britain.
Han Chong's (pic) Self-Portrait is "THE label to be seen in", the mass-selling British Daily Mail trumpeted in a headline several days ago.
The news report came about when Pippa Middleton, the sister of Prince William's wife Kate, attended a Wimbledon match last week wearing a see-through midi dress which cost about £360 (S$567)
"A-listers such as Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce have championed the surprisingly affordable creations of British-based designer Han Chong," the Daily Mail said.
Others who have worn his apparel included Kate when she attended a movie premiere in London last year, and Paris Hilton.
On its website, the London-based label launched in 2013 stated that its mission is to "provide transitional city-wear pieces using luxury fabrics, still attainable for customers".
Chong, 38, told Singapore's The Straits Times earlier this year that he had worked really hard but "because I want it so much, then it seems like everything is not that difficult, you know, you enjoy the journey".
