Perak to build 3,220 affordable homes

BUKIT MERAH - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday witnessed the exchanging of a memorandum of understanding between the Perak State Development Corporation (PSDC) and PR1MA Malaysia Corporation to identify land to build 3,220 affordable homes in five areas in the state.

PR1MA Malaysia said in a statement yesterday the Federal Government initiative would see houses built in Slim River, Pengkalan Aor, Sungai Pari, Kampung Paloh and Bandar Meru Raya.

"The exchange of MoU was to enter into a formal collaboration with PSDC to identify strategic land in the state for the development of PR1MA houses," it said.

The company said to date, it had approved five developments in Perak with state and private developers.

"These are in Slim River, Pengkalan Aor, Sungai Pari, Kampung Paloh and Bandar Meru Raya. The five projects will see the delivery of 3,220 homes in a total area of 80.32 acres."

Representing PR1MA Malaysia at the MoU exchange was its chief executive officer, Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias, while PSDC was represented by chief executive officer Datuk Aminuddin Md Desa.

Earlier, Najib, who is on a two-day tour of Perak, was given a special briefing on developments in the state by state Economic Planning Unit director Datuk Abu Bakar Said.
