Perak govt gives aid to commandos involved in Sabah standoff

IPOH - Six VAT 69 police commandos, who were injured during Op Daulat against Sulu militants in Lahad Datu last March, received contributions from the state government yesterday.

Sergeant-Major Sakarani Hashim, Corporal Mohd Tarmizi Hashim, Corporal Azman Ampong, Corporal Rizahudin Ahmad, Lance-Corporal Mohammad Nursabry Jaya and Constable Mohamad Qaiyum Aiqal Zolkipli received the contribution from the Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah during a hi-tea held in conjunction with the Merdeka Day celebrations at Dataran Ipoh here yesterday.

Raja Nazrin also presented similar contributions to the next of kin of Assistant Superintendent Zulkifli Mamat, Sergeant Sabaruddin Daud and Sergeant Rosdi Mohammad Zan. Zulkifli and Sabaruddin were killed in a bloody clash with the Sulu militants in Lahad Datu on March 1.

Rosdi died in an accident in Lebanon while serving under the United Nations' Interim Force (Unifil).
