PM Lee tours Kuala Lumpur ahead of leaders retreat

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife Mrs Lee went on a quick tour of Kuala Lumpur's most famous places on Sunday to catch up on the latest developments in the Malaysian capital, ahead of the Malaysia-Singapore leaders' retreat in Putrajaya in the evening.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will visit Malaysia from 6 to 7 April 2014 for a Leaders' Retreat with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak. The annual Leaders' Retreat is a key bilateral platform for the Prime Ministers to drive Singapore-Malaysia relations forward.

Prime Minister Lee is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister, Co-ordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean; Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang; Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam; Minister for Communications and Information Yaacob Ibrahim; Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan; Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Vivian Balakrishnan; Minister for Transport Lui Tuck Yew; Acting Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan-Jin; Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong, and senior officials from various Ministries.

Prime Minister Lee arrived in Kuala Lumpur in the afternoon of April 6, and visited the city to get an update on recent developments. This included a visit to the Petronas Twin Towers, where Petronas briefed PM. In the evening, PM Lee and Mrs Lee attended a private dinner hosted by Prime Minister Najib and his wife Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor. The accompanying Singapore Ministers will also be hosted to dinner by their Malaysian counterparts.

On April 7, the two Prime Ministers and their Ministers met in the morning to review progress in bilateral relations and discuss ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation across a wide range of areas.
