Police question Anwar's daughter over picture of Najib as a clown

PETALING JAYA: Police have questioned Nurul Izzah Anwar over an altered photo of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak posted on her Instagram account.

The Lembah Pantai MP was summoned to the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters on Monday over the photo, which featured Najib in clown make-up.

Lawyer Michelle Yesudas said Nurul Izaah exercised her right to remain silent and declined to answer any questions from the police.

She said that Nurul Izzah was being investigated ‎under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace and Section 233 of the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or services.

Nurul Izzah, who is also PKR vice-president, allegedly made the post In February.

"Today (Monday) is the first day of the Parliament sitting and I was informed that (PKR secretary general) Rafizi (Ramli) is also being probed for another matter," she told reporters outside the police headquarters.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm‎ Zani Che Din said Nurul Izzah's statement was recorded by Bukit Aman officers.

Nurul Izzah is the second person to be questioned over the controversial sketch after ‎activist Fahmi Reza, who was called in to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters to have his statement recorded on Sunday.
