Police: 'Red shirt' harassing Chinese claims baseless

KUALA LUMPUR - City police have denied claims on social media that the Chinese were being harassed by members of the 'red shirt' group.

"I want to make it clear that until now no police reports have been lodged in connection with these claims," City police chief Comm Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa (pic) said.

"The public is advised not to believe such information spread through social media.

"These claims are meant to strike fear and threaten racial harmony and public order," he said in a statement on Thursday.

Comm Tajuddin said anyone who experienced any form of provocation should lodge a police report immediately.

"We will not hesitate to take stern action against any racist groups that provoke or break the laws and threaten public order," he said.
