Police tracking down 8 suspects behind RM1.5 million jewellery store heist

KUALA LUMPUR - Police probe into the robbery of a jewellery store in Cheras on New Year's Eve have revealed that eight suspects had fled in two separate directions after the crime.

City police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Lazim said that investigations showed that eight suspects on four bikes had split up after the robbery, and that two of the bikes were seen heading towards the Batu Caves area.

"Two of the bikes were seen heading towards the southern side while the others were heading towards Batu Caves," he said.

Comm Mazlan added that police were still in the midst of obtaining the footage from all relevant CCTV cameras.

On Sunday, a robbery in a shopping mall in Taman Segar, Cheras saw losses of about RM1.5 million (S$496,000).

The suspects had stormed into the jewellery shop and took only three minutes to break into the displays, before running away with the goods.
