A pregnant woman was willing to sell her baby through social media under the false identities of "Nor" and "Lina", reported Harian Metro.

Even after a prospective customer had been lined up, the woman still tried to broker deals for the same baby with other interested couples.

Her "game" was exposed when a Harian Metro reporter went undercover on the pretext of "buying" her baby.

The woman told the reporter during their meeting in Kajang that she would only part with the baby for RM5,000 (S$1,682).

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusoff said one of the woman's victims lodged a police report after she suspected something amiss about the deal.

"However, the victim withdrew the report as she did not want any action to be taken against the woman. She claimed she lodged the report for reference," he added.

The victim, who refused to be named, said she just wanted the woman to stop conning people.

"I don't want the unborn baby to be motherless," she said, adding that she lost more than RM2,000 (S$673) in the incident.
