KUALA LUMPUR - Four robbers got away with about RM2.5mil (S$810,400) worth of jewellery from a shop in Jalan Kuchai Lama on Thursday.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa said police were alerted about the incident at 11.35am by the shop's security guard.

He said the guard told police that the shop had been robbed by four men wearing vests and helmets.

"He was working in the shop together with three others when the suspects stormed in and broke the glass displays using hammers," he said.

SAC Rusdi said two of the suspects were believed to be armed with pistols and the robbers scooped the jewellery from about 15 trays before fleeing.

He added that the robbery was over in about a minute.

It is learnt that there were four staff members in the shop but there were no customers at that time.
