KOTA KINABALU - A boat laden with subsidised fuel, believed to be smuggled, was stopped by security forces at Semporna, in Sabah's east coast.
Two men on the boat, believed to be illegal immigrants, were detained following the interception by the General Operations Force (GOF) in the 11.45pm incident on Thursday.
Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) director Jen Datuk Mohammad Mentek said GOF officers saw the boat leaving the Sibangkat shore and went to investigate.
"Upon inspection, the personnel found the two men, without any documents, as well as 13 gallons of fuel and 13 filled gas cylinders."
The two - aged 18 and 55 years - had been taken to the Semporna police station.
The pump boat is being kept with the Esscom for investigations.
