Singaporean among 3 killed in motorcycle accident in Johor

KLUANG - Three individuals including a senior citizen and a Singaporean died on the spot in an accident involving three motorcycles along Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing near here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Laham said the incident occurred at KM45 of the stretch at about 12.40am on Monday.

He said Mohamed Hassan Ali 65, was riding with Noraripen Surni, 48, a Singaporean, when their machine collided with another motorcyclist Muhammad Hafiz Ghazali, 21.

"Mohamed Hassan was exiting from a junction at Taman Ria when he collided with Muhamad Hafiz, who was heading to Ayer Hitam from Kluang.

"Another motorcyclist Muhammad Ekmal Yussry Md Yassin, who was riding behind Muhamad Hafiz, also failed to brake in time and rammed into the vehicles," he said in statement here on Monday.

ACP Mohamad added that Mohamed Hassan, Noraripen and Muhamad Hafiz died on the spot.

The other victim Muhammad Ekmal Yusry was rushed to the Kluang Hospital for treatment.

He said investigations revealed that the two-lane road was in good condition and the area was well lit, adding that the case has been classified under Section 41(1)(A) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving.
