KUALA LUMPUR - The 27-year old son of Federal Court judge Tan Sri Abdull Hamid Embong was killed in an early Thursday morning accident when his car crashed into the back of a parked trailer.
Darem Hakimi Abdull Hamid was said to have been travelling alone in his Honda City from Jalan Duta to Jalan Sultan Iskandar at about 4.40am when he reportedly lost control of his car.
Kuala Lumpur staff officer for traffic investigation and regulation Deputy Supt Markandan Subramaniam said the side of the white car scraped against the steel barricade of the highway before colliding with the back of a trailer which was parked by the road side.
"The car smashed into the right side of the back of the trailer and then spun around on the road before colliding with the road divider. The victim was killed on the spot from injuries to his head," DSP Markandan said.
He said the lorry was parked along the roadside as it was carrying concrete for a construction project along the highway.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
Darem Hakimi's body was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem. His remains were buried in Precinct 20 of Putrajaya on Thursday.
