Student breaks leg after wall collapses on him

KOTA KINABALU - A Form Two student escaped death when a portion of a wall at his school in Beaufort collapsed.

Mohd Riduan Fitri Ramli was walking near a vacant hut at SMK Beaufort 1 when the 1.2m corridor wall collapsed on him at about 8.10am yesterday.

The empty structure near the girls' hostel and a security post hut had been unused for some time with the roof struts removed.

Mohd Riduan is believed to have broken a right thigh bone.

Beaufort police chief Deputy Supt Azmir Abdul Razak confirmed the incident to the media.

Sabah Education Department director Datuk Jame Alip said the incident was being investigated.
