Teen pub worker dies in acid attack

KOTA KINABALU, Malaysia - A teenage pub worker was killed after an unidentified man splashed acid on her while she was having breakfast at a coffeeshop.

The 19-year-old girl, whose name has not been released, died at 11.20am yesterday at the Queen Elizabeth Hopital here almost six hours after the attack at 5.30am.

Penampang police chief Deputy Supt Ratan Singh said the teenager was about to order food at a mamak restaurant when a man approached.

"He splashed acid on her face before fleeing," he said.

Police said they were still gathering information from witnesses.
