Tribute for loving Uncle Ari put up on YouTube

PETALING JAYA - He is the guy his family members called Ari, Uncle Ari or Tok Mamu Ari.

Capt Zaharie Ahmad Shah is so well-loved by those close to him that four days after the MH370 craft he was piloting went missing, a relative set up a YouTube clip as a tribute to their family hero.

The 3.53-minute Captain Zaharie Shah was posted on March 12 and features images of the pilot in his younger days with family and friends.

The video provides an insight into the man who is now the centre of international media attention, beginning with the caption: "A tribute to a man well loved by many. Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, the guy we all call Ari, Uncle Ari and Tok Mamu Ari."

It continues with a close-circuit TV footage that shows the pilot walking through security checks at the KL International Airport before presumably boarding the MH370 Malaysia Airlines flight.

The rest, in the form of a slide show, depicts Zaharie in his younger days.

Halfway through came this endearing description of the pilot being referred to as a "loving, reflective, generous, cool, sporting, intelligent and supportive" man.
