PETALING JAYA: A weak 2.9 magnitude earthquake struck Ranau, Sabah on Sunday, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
The epicentre of the quake, which occurred at 12.27am, was located at 5.94 north latitude and 116.60 east longitude, 10km southwest Ranau, it said in a statement.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department said the situation would be monitored.
On June 5, an earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale hit Ranau and its surrounding areas, claiming 18 lives.
Since then, Ranau has been jolted by a series of aftershocks.
