Wedding reception delayed for two hours

MALAYSIA - Saturday was supposed to be their big day. Instead, a Petaling Jaya man and his bride had to keep their guests waiting nearly two hours because they were affected by the water cut.

Housewife Hamidah Abdullah, 56, said the wedding reception of her 38-year-old son was delayed as he arrived at the bride's house only at 2pm. He was supposed to have been there by 12.30pm, reported Malaysia's The Star.

"About 10 family members of the groom and bride had trouble looking for a place to shower and prepare before the reception," said Ms Hamidah.

Both bride and groom live in Pandamaran Jaya, Klang, and were affected by the water cut. "The disruption is a nuisance. Luckily, we managed to bathe at my relative's house," she said.

Meanwhile, other affected residents were considering staying in hotels until the situation improves.

Sales executive Jeremy Van Weiringen, 28, said he would think about staying at a hotel until the water supply returns to normal.

Conference planning manager Myers Liao, 32, said he did not have a chance to store water before the water was cut at his Petaling Jaya home and would book a hotel room.
