Woman arrested for allegedly beating daughter's classmate in Malaysia school

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have arrested a woman for allegedly beating a Year Five pupil at a school in Taman Shamelin, Cheras, here.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said that a report on the incident was lodged on July 3 by the victim's father.

ACP Mohamed Mokhsein said that a misunderstanding had sparked between the 11-year-old victim and her classmate.

"The victim told her father that she was then beaten up by the mother of the classmate in a classroom after school.

"The victim suffered injuries to the nose and hand. Her father had also taken her to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment," he said in a statement on Thursday (July 18).

ACP Mokhsein said that an arrest was made on July 7.

"A 45-year-old woman was arrested at her house around 1am. She was then remanded until July 8, before being released on police bail," he said.

He added that police are awaiting for the victim's medical report before completing their investigation paper, which will then be forwarded to the deputy public prosecutor.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt.
