KUALA LUMPUR - The Home Ministry will discuss with the police if Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad should be investigated for the allegations he has made about Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he would discuss with Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar if there was sufficient evidence to charge the former prime minister.
He said this when asked by reporters at the Umno general assembly on Friday whether Dr Mahathir would be investigated for allegedly asking Najib to be charged under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma).
"That is the prerogative of the authority, in this particular issue, the police. I have not discussed the matter with the IGP yet," Dr Ahmad Zahid said.
Dr Mahathir had reportedly called for the Prime Minister to be arrested under Sosma during a speech at a public rally in Kg Baru on Monday.
