Here is the full statement posted on the firm's Facebook page:

Many thanks to the community for bringing to our attention the circulation of the following fake message, which suggests that our service is sending out spam SMS invites with the intent to compromise user data:

Your privacy is of utmost importance, so we wish to inform you that this message is a hoax and entirely untrue. Any texts you receive to join MessageMe will be from one of your personal contacts, that has specifically sent you an invitation.

“If you received SMS fm MessageMe, don't click the link. Ignore & delete. It’s a spam virus going around. Once u click the link, the same SMS wil be sent out to ALL your contacts & max out your SMS quota. People have been receiving calls from +375602605281, +37127913091 or any number starting with a +375, or +371 number. One ring & they hang up, leaving a missed call message. If you call back it’s one of those numbers that are charged $15-$30 & they can copy your contact list in 3 sec. If you have bank or credit card details on your phone, they can copy that too. So don’t answer or call!”

Clicking the download link in the message will take you, respectively, to either the App Store, or the Google Play. It will NOT send an SMS to all of your contacts, and will NEVER charge you to send an SMS..
