Low-cost carrier AirAsia Berhad celebrates the commencement of its 3x weekly direct flights from Goa to Kuala Lumpur. The airline has also announced special all-in fares from as low as RM65 (S$21) one-way from Goa.
AirAsia Berhad chief executive officer Aireen Omar said the route was something the company had been planning for a long time.
"Goa is a fantastic destination, especially with its diverse culture, heritage and charm. With flights to this historic place, more travellers can take the opportunity to explore this popular city," said Aireen during the press conference to announce the commencement of flights to Air Asia's newest destination in Goa on Sept 4.
The inaugural flight to Goa took off on Aug 27. It signifies AirAsia's second new route between India and Malaysia after the Vizag-Kuala Lumpur route.
This also marks the eighth direct flight connecting India and Malaysia after Kolkata, Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Bengaluru, Kochi, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.
"Goans can now fly to Kuala Lumpur easily, and also take advantage of our Fly-Thru service which will allow them to enjoy a seamless travelling experience from India to Malaysian cities like Penang, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu or other international cities such as Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney and many more."
Aireen said AirAsia will also be increasing its flight frequencies for its Kochi-Kuala Lumpur flights from 10x weekly to 14x weekly effective Nov 19, and currently operates 69 weekly flights from India to Kuala Lumpur.
