 More S'poreans in pro cycling team

Cycling-HALF of Singapore's only professional cycling team will comprise of locals this year, a move designed to get a Singaporean rider onto the podium of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Asia Tour for the first time.

The team announced yesterday it had added 2012 national Junior Individual Time Trial champion Benedict Lee and Travis Woodford to this year's roster. Last year, the team achieved nine podium finishes through their foreign riders, including Malaysia's Loh Sea Keong, who won the Jelajah Malaysia in June.

"We burst onto the scene at the UCI Asia Tour last year and enjoyed some terrific results, but we are far from satisfied," said team principal Daniel Loy. "Our Singaporean cyclists are not far from delivering a UCI Tour podium finish.
