SANDISK CONNECT WIRELESS FLASH DRIVE AND SANDISK CONNECT WIRELESS MEDIA DRIVE

The SanDisk Connect devices give users the option to connect wirelessly to external storage - on a flash drive as well as a media drive.

For the Flash Drive, the benefit of having a wireless connection is that up to eight mobile devices can be connected to the drive and users can access three simultaneous media streams. A single charge of the storage device can deliver up to four hours of continuous streaming.

The Media Drive includes an SDHC/SDXC slot for users to store more content or view photos from a camera's memory card. The drive can connect up to eight mobile devices and stream five different high-definition movies at the same time.

The SanDisk Connect devices work for both iOS and Android. The user downloads the relevant app from Apple App Store or Google PlayStore and uses them to connect to the Flash Drive or Media Drive.

Having tried both the Flash and Media drives, it is evident that wireless storage has come some way since the early wireless Kingston Wi days. The streaming of data is smoother and quicker. The apps are also easier to work with.

But prices unfortunately have not come down that much. It is still a costly proposition to fork out $209 for a 64GB wireless storage gadget, compared with paying $249 for a 1TB portable hard drive.

The Sandisk Connect devices are available from only some stores - Challenger, Sprint-Cass, Nubox and Gadget World.

How much: Wireless Flash Drive - $89 (16GB), $109 (32GB), $179 (64GB); Wireless Media Drive - $139 (32GB), $209 (64GB)
