Clothes so tight, I could hardly breathe

SINGAPORE - Award-winning Malaysian actress Yeo Yann Yann is set to raise temperatures with her sexy role in new local movie Rubbers.

In the sex comedy helmed by local director Han Yew Kwang, she plays seductive single career woman Baoling, who tries all means to seduce a hunky plumber played by Julian Hee.

Rubbers, a collection of three short films about sex, love, seduction and punishment, is in post-production.

This is Yeo's first role after she gave birth to her daughter in August 2012.

Speaking to The New Paper over the phone from Malaysia, the 37-year-old actress said: "It's one of my most daring roles to date. I had to wear skimpy clothes and flaunt my body in the movie.

"I never thought my body could look that hot and spectacular."

SIMPLE YET REVEALING

Yeo, who shot the scenes for the movie last July, had to squeeze into a body-hugging tank top and short hot pants for her role.

"It was a very simple yet revealing outfit. The clothes were so tight I could hardly breathe while filming," she said.

"When I appeared on set in the outfit, I felt a little shy.

"The scene I like most was the one of me and Julian in the toilet. It was a very cramped space. We were standing so close to each other and my body was all wet. It was a very sexy and seductive scene."

Motherhood, she said, helped her achieve a more voluptuous figure for the role. Her chest increased by two cup sizes after giving birth.

She said: "I am a breastfeeding mum. So my boob size increased by quite a lot."

She had worked with director Han on his 2008 feature film 18 Grams of Love.

Yeo said she took on such a provocative role right after becoming a first-time mother to help her old friend Han.

"Yew Kwang is a hard-working director and I've had great working experiences with him. He was very sincere and came to see me several times.

"So I jumped into the shoot barely a year after giving birth," she said.

"Even though it's a seductive role, I didn't feel too uncomfortable. As an actress, once I took on the role, I had to get into character and not think too much about it."

The actress, who is married to Hong Kong action director Ma Yuk Sing, said her husband did not mind her new role one bit.

"He is supportive and open-minded towards my work and is fine with whatever I wear. He saw my image for the movie and told me that I look very sexy."

Even though Yeo is a regular face in local films, including Royston Tan's 881 (2007) and 12 Lotus (2008), it was her stellar performance as a frumpy working mother in Anthony Chen's award-winning movie Ilo Ilo (2013) that made her a household name in the region.

Her role also bagged her the highly-coveted Best Supporting Actress award at the prestigious Golden Horse Film Festival last year.

Despite the accolades she has received, Yeo does not feel the pressure to meet expectations when taking on a new role.

"This role as Baoling is totally different from my character in Ilo Ilo. So I don't feel stressed at all," she said.
