Jurong Point crowns model search winners

SINGAPORE - After a month of intense competition, three contestants from 24 finalists emerged victorious at the grand finals of Jurong Point shopping mall's Model Search competition on Saturday, April 26, 2014.

Organised by Jurong Point in partnership with Carrie Models International, the finals saw Zaccheus Sabai, 17, Nicolle Lim, 17, and Sunishka Sriram, 6, taking home the crown in the Male, Female, and Kids categories respectively.

The inaugural modelling competition serves to discover the next modelling sensation and provides opportunities for them to break out into the industry.

Hosted by Maddy Barber of Kiss 92FM and Tan Yan Wei of UFM 100.3, the upbeat crowd was first introduced to the judging panel which included former Singapore Supermodel, Pat Kraal, Producer/ Artiste Edmund Chen Zhi Cai, Founder and CEO of Asia Fashion Inc, Timothy Chen, Melissa Loo, Marketing Executive of Laneige, and Lynette Lee, Senior Manager, Marketing Communications, Jurong Point.

Zaccheus and Nicolle, standing at 1.86m and 1.79m respectively, each walked away with a Carrie Models International regional working contract, worth $30,000 and a $2,000 donation to a desired charity organisation while Sunishka was awarded with a Carrie Models International Talent Portfolio, worth $5,000. The three winners also received Jurong Point gift vouchers and other prizes.

Sharing her views on the deserved winners of the Male and Female categories, Pat said, "Zaccheus and Nicolle both have great looks, good height and skin as well as confidence on the catwalk, which are ideal for the Asian and European market. It certainly is advantageous that they are both still young where they are able finish their studies first while building on their portfolio before striking out overseas."

"We are very happy with the results of the Model Search. The winners demonstrated great passion, confidence and personality during the whole competition and have vast potential to go far in the modelling industry", said Ms Lynette Lee, Senior Manager, Marketing Communications, Jurong Point.

Male winner Zaccheus enthused: "I am really happy to have won! Especially since this is my first time joining a modelling competition! As I have always been fascinated with the modelling industry since young, I have learnt so much from this competition and really hope it will be a platform for me to launch my modelling career."

Nicolle, who is a student, added: "I was really nervous right before they called out the winner. I could not believe it when I heard my name! I am really happy to have won and I think that the judges liked my look and versatility which allowed me to shine in this competition. I will definitely use this opportunity to further my modelling dreams after I finish my studies."
