Mandopop star Tarcy Su marries

TAIPEI - Mandopop sweetheart Tarcy Su has married her boyfriend of two years, with a wedding to follow in Hokkaido this month.

Su, 43, and skateboard businessman Jimmy Sun, 44, registered their marriage last Thursday and "became important partners in each other's lives", she said in a statement on Monday. It is her first marriage and his second. He has a daughter with his former wife.

Su's wedding in Japan will be attended by family and friends, including singer Valen Hsu and her South Korean husband, SM advertising executive Choi Jae Sung, Taiwan Apple Daily said.

Su met her husband at a friend's wedding 21/2 years ago, the newspaper said. Because she does not like talking on the telephone, he communicated with her through a chatting app for two months before he got her to go on a date with him, the report said.

Late last year, when they were considering marriage, she took a break from show business to think things through, her agent said, because marriage would mean "living together with him and raising a child".

Su will not resume work before June, the agent added.

The Taiwanese singer is known for ubiquitous 1990s hits such as Lemon Tree and Duck.
