One fine day

One fine day

If your heart is set on an outdoor celebration, there are a few things you need to keep in mind, including food and set-ups. Here, some expert help from the wedding planners at Ode To Joy Wedding Concepts, Eternally Yours, Heaven's Gift Wedding Concierge and The Wedding Entourage.

Plan around the weather

Joan Li from Ode To Joy Wedding Concepts says, "A wet-weather plan or programme such as considering indoor alternatives in case of rain, is a must because of our unpredictable weather."

Choose your venue

"Couples will have to source for their own seating plans or a mobile bar," says Kim Tay of Heaven's Gift Wedding Concierge, as most outdoor locations come without. The same goes for invites, favours, and flowers, which are one of the most important aspects of a wedding.

Check the power sources

"You'll need to have electricity for your microphones, caterers, and others," says Joan.

Look into restroom facilities

It's best to find an outdoor venue with private restrooms for the wedding entourage. Otherwise, portable toilets are a must.

Think survival kits-cum-favours

Keep guests happy with pretty paper umbrellas or fans as favours. Alternatively, an outdoors survival kit or welcome basket with items such as hats, sunglasses and refreshments are a great idea too.

Make things tasty outside

It is important that your caterer has experience with an outdoor wedding menu that will keep well in the heat.
