Wen Zhang admits affair

BEIJING - Chinese television star Wen Zhang admitted on Monday to cheating on his actress wife Ma Yili and said he would take all the blame for his affair with co-star Yao Di.

Days after stories about his infidelity spread online, Wen, 29, said in a statement: "It's all been my own fault up till today, what's wrong is wrong, and it has nothing to do with anyone," reported NetEase website.

He said his smooth rise to stardom in China had made him arrogant, landing him at a "precarious point today". He apologised for letting down his wife, their two children and everyone else who had high hopes of him.

He said: "Yili and the children could have had a warm, beautiful life but I have wrecked all of this. I don't deserve forgiveness for my wrongdoing and I can hardly make up for the damage I've done, but I want to make up for it, I must make up for it, and this will be my life henceforth."

Wen came to wide notice in China with the 2007 drama Struggle, which starred Ma, now 37.

He and Yao, 32, starred in the 2011 show Naked Wedding.
