Given the increasing frequency of hazy air conditions, I urge the Ministry of Education to invest in air purifiers for schools that do not have air-conditioning in their classrooms.
While most working adults enjoy filtered air in air-conditioned offices, teachers and schoolchildren are exposed to the polluted air in the mechanically ventilated classrooms.
Though the Pollutant Standards Index may be in the moderate range and perceived as acceptable, the cumulative effects of breathing in such air day in and day out should not be discounted.
