First real estate show in Myanmar

Singapore - Sphere Conferences, the conference arm of Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH), today announced its partnership and Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) to launch the Real Estate Show Myanmar 2014 (MRES 2014).

Supported by Myanmar's Union Ministry of Construction, the event is held alongside the highly successful Myanmar Urban Development Conference 2014 (MUDC 2014) from 26-28 May 2014 at Traders Hotel, Yangon.

Driven by its urban development, Myanmar's real estate market is undergoing an unprecedented boom. Rental yield has increased exponentially for property owners in the recent two years.

While foreigners are not eligible to own properties in the country currently, there is anticipation as details of the new condominium law will be released at the conference. There will also be updates from the Union Ministry of Construction on the government's plans for the country's onward urbanisation and from the Central Bank of Myanmar on the impact of future currency regulations on real estate investment in the country.

The first International Property Showcase Exhibition from 26 to 27 May 2014, showcases local and international exquisite properties and serves as the perfect marketplace for interested tenants and buyers, both currently residing within and outside of Myanmar.

His Excellency U Kyaw Lwin, Minister of Construction, said: "I sincerely hope to reconvene with you at the conference, looking forward to meaningful exchanges and interaction amongst industry peers in the region. On behalf of the Ministry of Construction, I welcome you once again, to our golden land."

His Excellency will be delivering a ministerial address at the conference. The Ministry of Construction officials will be giving updates on the progress of the National Comprehensive Development Plan, the 5-year vision for the Myanmar Urban Blueprint, and the development of the provisional Myanmar National Building Code.

U Win Aung, Chairman of the UMFCCI, said: "This is definitely a good opportunity for the businesses in Myanmar to meet potential partners. As Myanmar transforms itself in the new era, the urban and real estate landscape will inevitably evolve to meet the needs of the people residing in the country, both native and foreign alike. This is the best chance to learn about the abundant opportunities here and how we can work together for Myanmar's future."

Mr Chua Wee Phong, Chairman of Sphere Conferences, said: "We are pleased that the Ministry of Construction and UMFCCI have endorsed the second edition of the annual conference dedicated to develop the physical landscape of Myanmar - the urban build and real estate sectors. MUDC 2014, RESM 2014 and the accompanying property exhibition will be held alongside BuildTech Yangon 2014 which will be taking place from 22 - 24 May 2014 at the Myanmar Convention Centre. With more than 30 high level power speakers and over 400 attendees joining us, these events will be the perfect platform for networking and knowledge transference opportunities. It is also where the available opportunities in the market will be uncovered."
